engine start to do list
Hi guys,
I know this is lame, but if any of you are (REALLY) bored would you mind checking this over for me? I have compilied it based on old threads from
here.
Might have missed something really obvious, or not "exploded" some points enough. I want it heavily broken down so I feel like im making
progress!
(my loom is a premier wiring loom fyi),
and you probably dont need to read the first page and a bit of boring stuff!

You n mentioned coolant when filling with water? - It has cooling properties as well as corrosion inhibitor and anti freeze.
Also, i wouldnt worry about starting the engine withoug plugs, as it will just flood it.
Exercise the pipework to get ris of all the air you can, and just run it for a few minutes and to the same again.
The fuel pump will switch off as it will have a pressure switch?? Mine has, and is driven by the ECU.
HTH.
Kindest Regards,
Richard.

Antifreeze actually reduces the cooling effect of water
The only reason its added is corrosion and lowering the freezing point.
That said, you must use it in an aluminium engine or one with an ali head.

Can you explain that one? I thought Glycol was a better conductor of thermal energy than water?!?

Antifreeze actually reduces the cooling effect of water
antifreeze and pressurization increases the boiling point of water

Ethylene glycol reduces the specific heat capacity of water i.e it reduces its heat transfer properties.
Hence why a properly designed coolant system needs to have its capacity increased if changed from pure water to an ethylene glycol and water mix.

thought you were supposed to leave plugs out and turn the engine over to get the oil pressure up? taking the plugs out lets it turn easier? i
didn't anyway when i did mine, but i thought that was how its done lol

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

ill turn it over before adding any fuel to prevent flooding as pointed out by richard just so I know theres some oil up top.

red tops can be a bit tempremental about priming the oil pump on initial start up, did you put any vaseline in the pump gears?
You can assist the pump by prefilling the oil filter and also back filling the pump and lower galleries by removing the oil pressure sender and
filling via the hole with a can.
