new side panels

Just finished making the new side panels out of alluminium there will be an inch gap at the rear to aid cooling. Tried and tested method on an 2 litre Zetec Indy we built reduced the engine temp by nearly 10 degrees on the track. The open end will have mesh fitted. MK now adopting ths method on their track car and Steve's S2000

i really like this idea for cooling under bonnet temps
do you think this would be enough not to need vents in the actual bonnet?

Our thoughts on this were that the airflowing into the engine bay would hit the bulkhead and exit beneath the car creating two problems 1 being an upward force as the airflow hit the bonnet and 2 the air would then try to exit underneath the car.

By modyfying the side panels we hoped that we would alleviate some of these problems along with increasing the cooling capactity. We definitely know that cooling has improved not sure about the aerodynamics

just made some up myself, followed some tips from Liam on here and used some quadrant beading to get a nice chamfered edge when bending the ally sheet.

worked like a charm
