Recommend me a Sky package

I've resisted Sky for about 8 years now! We've been using a Windows media PC and it's been great but my wife wants Sky Plus.

I don't watch much sport (but loved the motorsport on Eurosport when we had Sky in the last house)

My son is 5 so will watch most kids stuff.

It's mainly to be able to record stuff on C4 like Skins, Shameless, Brothers & Sisters (4OD would probably suit!)

We don't want multi room or HD.

We're on LoveFilms and that works for us for films.

So, what package do you guys recommend?

And, can I tell the installation guy where he can run the cables (because I'm fussy!)

Regards

Wyn

Entertainment pack will be a good option -then top up with the Children's pack at an extra £1?

We have the entertainment pack and much as though I'd love to have the films again - can't really justify it. There's plenty to watch really. Have Freeview HD upstairs and between the two it's a good range.

We've had Sky+ for ages and find it great, but we're looking at moving to TalkTalk TV+ at the moment, as the combination of packages that would suit us would be cheaper; we already have our phone with TalkTalk and we can easily move our broadband there.

I used to have the lot, full package, HD multiroom, broadband phone rental talk talk.. costing a fortune it was!

Anyway, just canceled the movies so have skysports world, and got rid of the HD.

The sky plus is excellent and gets well used here.

I'd agree with that - just remember to deduct the £1 from his pocket money every month!!

If C4 is your main target, then why not just buy a freeview or freesat (if you already have a dish) PVR?

yes - you can ask the guy to run the cables where you want, but (in my experience) he'll always take the easiest route. Therefore if there are multiple walls to go through, I'd drill the holes for him before he got there....otherwise he'll just run it round the outside of the house and put a cable across your room to the outside wall...

If that's all you want, then get FreeSat with a PVR box, better interface than Sky+, all the free to air channels, and BBC HD, and no monthly bill to Sky, all free. Box is around £250 and that's all you'll ever pay.

I have this for the cracking price of FREE per month. Great when I can't get digital or even c5 over an aerial as the transmitter in my town is so old.

Beware the Sky +.

We got it recently and now instead of
allowing us to manage our viewing times and leaving more free time to get on with stuff....we bloody record everything and watch 3x as much TV.

It is very good though.

rewind live tv..magic.
