Oil pressure warning light
Started the locost after about a month of standing but the oil pressure warning light is staying on. Iv checked all the wiring and all seems fine. Is
there any way to test the sensor? It is a single pin type.
Failing that, is there any other way to test the oil pressure?
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

how much is a new sensor?
I would expect there is a diaphragm that gets pushed by the oil and then opens a contact so in theory pushing a match stick into the sensor should
work.
perhaps a safer method woulkd be to connect to a pump or air line - one of those air line lobwer things and run a very low pressure 10 psi be enough.

yeah but its back to normal now (well slightly under max). Is that likely to have fluffed up the switch?

Unlikely. That do die of natural causes sometimes but they are generally quite reliable things. Coupling it to a low pressure airline or even a
foot/bicycle pump should prove if it's working or not as 02GF74 says.

i had a problem on a v8 where the oil drained out the pump, it wouldnt create any preasure and thus the tappets wouldnt fill up and it ran lumpy...
i packed the pump with vasaline and it re primed its self and was all good!!!!!
