989 Blade strange problem??

Talking to someone who may be selling a 989 carbed blade 7 and he said this to me..

"Tell ya what I do find, if you don't start the car for like a month the
spark plugs give up and have to be replaced. "

Any ideas on this one or heard of it before?

Does sound strange - maybe cos the latest blade lump is efi...

Or is it a 918?? Mine can be left months on the trickle charger & still starts instantly on the button with choke

989?

Perhaps 919 on carbs.
Common enough issue, they are very sensitive to flooding/wetting the plugs.
Once this has occurred it's difficult to dry them on a bike battery without flattening it.
I've never changed a set yet, dry them over a gas ring put them in warm, sorted.

I am told its is a 989 and on carbs but will check back with him.

Sounds interesting about the wet plugs but dont see why this should happen AFTER being driven, switched off and the not started for a month?

Drain the floats when it's being parked up and then fresh fuel will be in there for the startup. Condensation in the floats and stale fuel will wet the plugs and then they are fubar, especially if using the Iridiums can be expensive.

Blade engines are susceptible to fouled plugs - in 8000 miles and approx 18 months, I changed mine twice.

Once straight after SVA as they fouled from being stop started (this was a new set I'd just put in), I swapped them back to the old set. Then did a service, had some running problems after quite a few miles, and then swapped back to the old plugs yet again!!!

ETA - this was on a 918/919 though. I suspect that this is also the engine being offered to you...

Yep!

It worked for various ancient and small 2 strokes i had and also for newer 4 stokes (cars andbikes) that needed "coaxing" into life.

Unfortunatly todays throw away society is happy to accept "put a new set of plugs in"
£30 A SET.
I'd try the cheap alternatives first.........
