Modified Car Insurance

Its that time of year when the insurers start pushing small hooks into my eyes....

My daily hack is a Saab 9-3 Coupe.

Turbo , ie lots of bhp (290bhp) and lots of mods.

I am 44 and have not made a claim in over 10 years.

Most current quotes...

Emodified = £716 fully comp

Greenlight = £427

flux (current insurer @ £497)

The car is worth £2500 or thereabouts...

Please help or she is going , I am not paying £700 a year to insure something worth slightly more than that.

Which they have no intention of repairing even if I did bump it .....

Welcome to Great Britain, the rich get richer and the poor get paid to stay in the house....

Meanwhile the rest of us get hammered.

Maybe if I buy an Impreza and tell them I am 21 with convictions for drink driving I might get a better quote.

Quietly fizzing

Busy doing them now, has brought it down to the £400 mark...

Some are coming in at £350 with a £500 excess.

Best quote was £360 via the meerkat website, then I have got a £70 cashback using quidco.

Some companies (a lot) are taking the wee !

My worst quote was £2032

Thanks for that....

I think once I get my project car up and running, my Saabs days will be numbered.

It cannot do a tow hitch !

I just used a compare market type thing to get insurance on a BM.

I ended up getting it for a couple hundred less than 2gether, but also received much better service, which is always nice!

ETA - ended up with Swiftcover, believe it or not!

A final note......

Arranged cover with the RAC for 370gbp -

Rang my current insurers today to cancel their renewal, they offered a quote so I let them do it.

So the quote they gave me last week in the post was 497gbp

They did it today for 360gbp

what a bunch of knobs
