Zetec Megasquirt

Ok managed to get the car to start on Sunday and run but it is running very rich all the time and is quite lumppy.

Not quite sure where to start to get it running better.

Mannged to get a zetec_turbo.msq file but this hasn't helped much. I think I need guidance on all the constants etc before playing with the maps

Using megatune as I cannot get MS Tuner Studio to communicate.

What set up are you running, a plenum and single throttle body with a MAP sensor or individual throttle bodies and Alpha-N?

First thing to do is ensure the MS is running the appropriate fueling algorithm and get the REQ_FUEL setting somewhere in the right area. This affects fuelling at all engine loads and speeds.

I'll do a basemap for you tonight if no one offers anything in the mean time.

Just need to know what set up you are running so I can get it somewhere close

I.e what throttle bodies and injectors etc etc. Oh and whether it's MS1 or MS2

Cheers,
David

I could really do with some help on this as well - sorry for hijacking the thread!!

I have got the engine to start but am struggling beyond that. I am running a 1.8 with GSXR600 TBs and the standard suzuki injectors. Its MS1

Sorry for being so cheeky.

Thanks

Chris

Ok we did "play" with the REQ_Fuel" and it did help but with out a clue on how to set it it was hit and miss. Currently set at 41.0

Ok Car is a 1.8 Zetec - MK Indy

ECU is MegaSquirt 2

Injectors are standard Ford mounted in the ford zetec sandwich Plate. (from a 1.8 Zetec (MkIII)

The Throttle Boddies are - well .... GSXR 750 Carbs, But with the slider locked up and the Slider Guide (needle bit) removed to give as smooth a Path as possible. (work very well)

Pendulum is the area between the GSXR750 inlet and the Pipercross (covers all four) Filter.

TPS is GSXR750 and is calibrated 0 - 100%
Temp Senor (airbox) is Ford 1.8 Mondeo & Calibrated
Coolant Temp is Ford 1.8 Mondeo & Calibrated
MAP sensor is connected to the Hose comming out of the sandwich plate (bottom rear)
Position (crank) is Ford and is mounted to look as Stock ford Flywheel

Ignition is Megasquirt direct to the Ford Coil Pack (NO EDIS).

Fuel - Low Pressure feeding Swirl Pot. hi Pressure Pump (Via Megasquirt) feeding injectors

Lamda is Narrow band and is positioned in collector horitontally where all four pipes meet.

Fan's for Engine are independantly controlled. (tested and working)

ECU / Fuel Pumps / Coil packs // Injector all though Thatum Cat 3 Imobiliser. (Tested and working)

Only bit that is not connected is the hose off of the "fuel regulator (small bore looks like a vacum)" on the sandwich plate. No quit sure where that would go.

i would really suggest getting a wideband controller though to have any chance of properly tuning it.

No so much an upgrade as an essential if you want to do your own mapping. If you just need to get the engine running to get to your local rolling road then very much a non-essential.

Mads heres one for you

I have turned off lamda correction as I dont know how yours is set up. If you want to use it you'll have to turn it back on (set step size to 2 and authority to 25 for a start) and set up the AFR target table properly.

Tacho out is turned off as well.

See how you get on, if you need a hand, just shout.

Oh and keep an eye out for knock, I have best guessed the ignition table.

You may find it a little lean at the bottom end and rich at the top. See how it goes.

David
