don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Ive got a 1995 Niva ....

And a rebuilt Fiat 2.0 Tc in my garage...which will go in eventually.

On its first off road competition trial on part worn tyres.

Out of 30+ other vehicles I was fourth in the RTV class.

And I dropped out after 7 sections as I broke it...

Not once over winter did the Niva even look or feel like the snow we had In Northumberland was going to stop it.

Cheap parts available from Alan Bird in Cumbria...

fuel pump £8
Oil Filter £3
Ball joint £8

The only thing they do really well is drink petrol !

www.lada.co.uk

The best bit is driving past people and seeing them smiling/laughing at it...

I plan to use it to tow my Fiat 126 /trailer to events when its built.

Cool ! - "Different is good"

I seem to recall selling an engine out of a Renault 17 Coupe (which I wish I still had) to a bloke to fit in a Niva?
Useless trivia

I sold my Niva a couple of years ago. Storming off road ability and with a tailwind I could squeeze 95mph out of it on motorways. Admittedly it was slightly traumatic at those speeds, but generally one of the best/most fondly remembered cars I've owned! The 1.7i is not too bad on fuel either, much better than the older 1.6.

Possibly, though the guy I sold it to was not aware of Lada UK at the time. It's also possible that it's been sold on again.

Do you have any links? I'd love to find out what's become of "Boris"!
