Courier required - car battery

Does any one know of a courier who will transport a car battery ?
I've had a quote of £42 from Shipley.com which is quite frankly rediculous !

depends if the courier knows what it is...
parcel2go is probably a LOT cheaper, but won't send batteries i'd imagine

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

They're not the most careful and they might transport it upside down?

I bought a new battery last week for the MX5. Came via Parcel Force (on account I presume?) and i was charged £8 for the postage.

It's a gel battery ( optima red top ) which can be mounted sideways apparently.
Tried Royal Mail - won't do it.
Somebody must transport these things.

Is it one you have purchased and want delivering to you or one you sold you want to deliver ?

I can probably help either way.

Being a gel battery, it won't care whether it's upside down, shaken around, or whatever. I'd be tempted just to pack it up well with plenty of bubble wrap, then just tell the courier it's a brick.

Hi Jon

It's one someone is selling on another forum.
I need it picking up from Northampton and delivering to my address in North Yorkshire.
Any help would be gratefully received.

parcels2go

if for example it was in bubble wrap and boxed as metal you would be fine.

When they send a battery some of online battery sellers provide a couple of loops of rope protruding from the wrapping as a handle --- that way the courier will always put it down the right way up.
