A good idea form the Condems

They are looking for ideas for laws/regulations which should be scrapped.

Anyone is free to submit an idea.

Whether they act on any of it remains to be seen - but its got be be worth a go if you feel strongly about something.

I wonder what they think of my suggestion that the people who work in the DVLA Borehamwood office should have this as an official uniform:

Personally I can think of a few:

Guilty until proven innocent treatment of motoring offences.

5 year prison sentences for speeding offences

Revenue generation through mobile speed cameras

Increasing the motorway speedlimit

Rights of intruders into your home - homeowners right to defend their property with reasonable force.

Repealling the handgun ban

And lastly make chavs legal game

actually that is the one that popped into my mind.

If you can edit it, mention that new cars use oodles of energy and natural resource to make; plus the law may encourage people to keep older cars going than scrapping and then buying new cars.

i totally agree, however...
the scrappage scheme was brought in to encourage car sales, meaning more work for people, etc less of an energy green thing, more of an economy boost
reducing car sales and production puts a lot of people out of work

I don't disagree, but my view has always been that road tax should be scrapped altogether for ALL vehicles.

The cost to the motorist should be pay per mile - i.e. on the cost of fuel and NOT a fixed annual tax.

It's questionable how much road tax revenue is spent on roads and more importantly if the tax is supposed to have any bearing on the environment it has to change.

Scrapping the DVLA road tax dept. would also save a vast amount of cash and free their resources to "improve" in other areas.

I think that there is one argument for tax, it helps keep cars legal, ie tax and mot required for vehicle.
Although with cloning it is becomming less and less relevent.
