Help needed
Got to the nurburgh ring today, unloaded the car off the trailer and went to fill it up with fuel and noticed that when coasting along off power,
there is quite a clunking sound coming from the rear end. It's not from the gear box, but there is slop in the diff, however it's not
whining.
Any ideas what it might be?

What engine, diff, etc? Is this noise new?
Check the prop bolts, diff mountings, driveshaft bolts (if lobro joints) and even the wheel nuts. Some diffs do have quite a lot of play in them.
Freelander diffs have quite a lot of backlash from new for instance.

Problem solved! Loose drive shaft bolts making the noise, so an easy fix.
