CITB Levy HELP

I have just started working for a suspended ceiling firm (sub contract labor only)(i am self employed) and they want to take out a % from my wage for the CITB Levy construction skills

I have been sub contracting for 15+ years and this is the 1st time i have come across this

Can i opt out or refuse to pay?

The Job is a new hospital wing and the ceiling firm are sub contracting the job from a major building company

If youre self employed, they might need to register you with CITB, the same as GasSafe with a gas engineer.

There shouldnt be a percentage, rather a fixed amount though....

Are you sure they arent trying to deduct NI or rip you off?

Kindest Regards,
Richard.

I thought the new government was getting rid of quangos? You are working for the sub-contractor why isn't their firm paying? It sounds like they are trying to pass some of their expense on to you as you are self employed.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
