Fireblade 893 - Can't find my 5th & 6th

Finally, I got my plates fo rmy 893 Blade locost afetr 10 years in teh making. It pulls liek a train and drives really good...its pure fun.

I have a mechanical push/pull cable paddle shift for my gear change. 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th work fine. However when I come to pull for 5th you get that mushy feel rather than that convincing click. Anyone has experienced this? Is it just a matter of setting it up or maybe it requires that little more travel to engage?

Shoul'nt do. All the shifts are about the same throw
You may have a broken 'box

Did it work before?

If the adjustment is correct - it may be a bent selector... doubt it's the box (fingers crossed!)

Hi Phil
thats a little worrying as has been already said all shifts require the same ammount of throw tith the exception of 1st through neutral to second.
It is really important to make sure that where the ose joint connects to the input lever on the engine the angle is 90 degrees to avoid over centering.
It could be a worn pin on the selector drum which is operated by a set of double spring loaded pawls on the actuator shaft - this can be inspected by removing the clutch with engine in after that gearbox inspection is an engine out and crankcase split job, fingers crossed its one of the former - if you still have issues call me on 01449 736633
best regards and glad you got it all up and running
Andy

Thanks for the advice. We have a horrible weather here right now (actually it has not stopped raining in Malta since I got my plates) so I cannot go out for a re-verification, but I managed rock the car and press the clutch and engage all six...so maybe I was over the moon when driving....
