Any axle experts?

Hi,
is anyone on here an expert on fitting and setting up of live (atlas) axles??
I need to rebuild my atlas with my new transx diff ans shafts etc.
I have all new bearings and seals etc i just dont know what i am doing...lol.
Spoken to Gartrac and they can do it but the cost is fairly high, if all else fails i will use them just thought i woudl ask on here first.
cheers in advance guys

Not done a live axle but I would start with looking at a Haynes manual, that will tell you what you can and can't do yourself

nope haynes never covered it as" its not a job for the amature".

How long it lasts is down to getting the preload and back lash correct.

You should try Ivan at Pro Comp, he should be able to do it for you.

If you can find a haynes owners workshop manual it may be in there but don't bother with a service and repair haynes. These are the dumbed down versions that assume you are thick according to spanner ratings, 5 being dealer only repair, 1 being checking your car is still on the drive.

get someone who knows what they are doing to build it up.

I don't shy away from many jobs but this is one that even we farm out.

Too easy to trash a perfectly good axle and bearings, especially with the atlas (escort/sierra diffs are both easier).
