getting engine level?
im in the process of making the upper engine mounts for my 2008 R1, but am having problems deciding on when the engine is level?
as non of the engine seems to be flat(sump etc).
so what is the easiest way of making sure it is level?
cheers

i maybe wrong but i was looking at one of these a while back for another project and the yamaha sign should be level. so you can use that as a
guide.
hope that helps.

cant you just buy the engine cradle from MK

I didn't worry too much about correct orientation and just stuffed it in where it fitted best, my reasoning being bikes go up and down hills and
do wheelies with out any ill effects

I think making sure the prop adaptor is as paralell to the diff is important
just try and get the sump as level as posible
and no wheelies

cheers,
i was planning on just getting a different top mount from mk (after changing mind on what engine) but they told me they make the craddles specific to
each car, so every cradle is different. so i need to modify this one.
well ive gone with putting the yamaha logo level and this does seem to look ok, here is a couple of pics:
does that look fine? although i think i will try the prop to check there isn't too much of an angle.

Is it me, or the picture, but does the engine slope downwards towards the back? It looks like it is from the 3rd picture....

Just use the sump gasket line as a level ? That said level to the eye will be level enough.
