mnr project zzr1400 update

Hi all well

The car is nearly all back together now,

fitted a new scuttle as old one was damaged, and installed all the savage switches looks good,
engine started but needs to be run up to temp now at some point to check everything,

went mad over 2 days from 9am until 11pm to get it all ready to go get flat floor set up today,

suspension was way way out castor & camber all over the place and wheel bearing bolts were loose,, been check all the bolts as i went along and marking them but missed this one as i presumed they would be ok (silly me )

Car is alomost done as taken longer than expected to get set up Bloody rose joints and washers get on your nerves,

And the final result is the car weighed in at 520 kg with me in it at 80kg,

not bad then as this is with the car wet and 3/4 full fuel tank, should be good then,

still needs some tweeking to get spot on so left the car with them toi finish off,

1.Still to do is fit the bonnet,
2. re bleed the brakes
3.re bleed clutch,
4. run up to temp check everything for leaks and water system bleed,
5.fit fire extinguisher
6.fit rear wing protectors
7. fit areo screen
8. fit wing mirors,
9.tidy some wiring up in engine bay,
10. brake bias balance to do,
11. wire up front indicators

Thats pretty much it other than the odd cosmetic tweek and then off to the dyno in a weeks time, i wonder what bhp i will get any gueses i was hoping for about 160+ at the wheels MMMMMM we will see

Will take some pics soon to see the car at this stage,

must say the rear exhaust we did is very quiet well pleased,

cheers all hope any winter mods are going well.

will be interesting to see performance figures! on average, how much time do you spend on the car each week? as it seems to have taken me ages in comparison!

With quaife box and freelander diff I would guess at 161bhp on a dynojet approved rolling road

If you get poor figures, check the air filter as the flat pipercross filter originally fitted to my car cost me 25bhp.

Sounds great and about 40kgs less than my car plus I weigh more than you too

cheers paul,

yeh im a light weight i know,

Also you have a full cage and that extra oil in the acusump?? so prob would be around that extra,

I will check out the filter as i have the flat type, did you change yours then?? if so what you got buddy??

i wil prob fit a scoop anyway so could go bigger with the filter,

cheers and hope the cars going well i call you for a chat and update??

Sean,
Well done. Looks like the finish line is in site. Keep up the good work.

My guess is 167 at the wheels. A shot in the dark, but I'm feeling lucky today.

Cheers,
Jonathan

I would suggest an ITG one, just make sure that the filter doesn't collapse when the hammer is down The good news is that the back plate will fit and save you a load of work, so only a minute to swap the foam over.

Get rid of the reverse box and you will unleash a few more bhp too. I plan to get mine remapped with the new headers in December and will report back with the all important numbers.

Cheers
Paul

I got my Mk rolling roaded in May '09 at Dynobike, Malton.
I was suprised to see 183hp at wheels. I questioned this figure and was assured that it was correct!
So '07 zzr1400, AB billet sump, power commander, Tube Engineers 4-2-1 manifold, Mk silencer (Tube Eng.), Pipercross filter,
No reverse, fully rebuilt 3.14 Lsd (set up loose).
The comments made by tuner (forgot his name) that the exhaust manifold was the reason it was making good bhp.
I was happy!

Essentially the same spec as mine and I am 161 so something not quite right somewhere. The engine standard puts out that figure at the crank? More with ram air which we can't really replicate on the cars.

I am planning a trip to Daytuner with my new exhaust and bike can so will post in a couple of weeks with my figures.
