Xmas rope light
Today i decided to put up the outside xmas lights but have found most of the bulbs blown after 1 year!
Was thinking of replacing my old bulb style lights with rope lights.
How long does rope light last?
What happens if a led bulb blows?
Does it mess up all the rope light up?
Does the quality of rope light differ from cheap to expensive?
Thanks guys (and girlies)
Matt

Hi Matt,
I bought an LED rope light from homebase which cost about £20 IIRC. All good so far, have been using it for the past four of five christmas's
with no LEDs blown yet but I've only been using it indoors. I think if one of the LEDs goes its had it as the outer rope part is basically a
clear plastic tube which seals the gubbins inside. It might be possible to repair them by pulling it apart and soldering in a new LED but I've
not had to do this (yet)
cheers,
Lee

BAH HUMBUG!
It is also down-right criminal to put them up before the 1st of December, anyone breaking this Law should do hard labour till Boxing day at least, and
then have to spend time making Easter Bunnies from left over tinsel !

in most cases if it fails, it will fail in 1mtr or 2 mtr sections (depending on the rope light) which you can cut out (at the correct points) and
replace with new bits. Be aware that the cheap stuff isn't actually LED but the expensive stuff usually is which is more reliable.
