FS: High spec. Locost 2.1 Pinto

I am selling my Locost as since finishing its rebuild I haven’t used it anything like as much as I should have. I bought it September 2008 as a part rebuilt project. The rebuild included an engine change (CVH – Pinto), new suspension, new brakes, new LSD, new interior, complete rewire and various bits of bodywork. The V5 has been updated with the new engine size. The car was built and SVA’d in 2001, it is on a Q plate and due to the age of engine only needs a visible smoke test at MoT time.

The MoT runs to May 2011 and the tax to the end of April 2011. The car has 2 previous owners, the original builder and one other who drove it briefly before starting the rebuild. I have a file full of receipts and instructions, and loads of photos, the megajolt maps etc. which I will put on DVD.

Bodywork/Chassis
• Spaceframe chassis built to Ron Champion book specs.
• GRP cycle wings and nosecone
• Alumimun scuttle, bonnet, rear and side panels
• Aeroscreen (fitted) and windscreen (crack in one corner, and no wipers fitted/wired at present).

Engine
• 2100cc Pinto, 1000miles since rebuild
• Shortened and baffled sump.
• Kent GP1 Camshaft kit
• Big Valve Head – Group 1 spec (1 Ύ inches inlet (44.4mm) and 1 ½ inches exhaust (38.1mm))
• Lightened flywheel
• Alloy vernier Pulley
• PowerLite Gear reduction starter motor
• Denso lightweight alternator
• Burton rear fill cam cover
• PCV valve replaced with breather elbow to alloy catch tank
• New CBS 11” fan mounted to new Polo radiator
• New waterpump
• Twin Dellorto DHLA 45s rejetted to suit and initial tune by Gerald Dale Motorsport
• Facet Posiflow fuel pump with inertia cut-off and filter king regulator
• 4-1 Manifold with 6” stainless steel silencer
• Pipercross PX600 air filter and backing plate
• Megajolt ECU

Transmission
• Type 9 gearbox
• New clutch kit fitted during rebuild
• Rally Design Type 9 turret extension and short shift gearstick
• Live “English” axle with 3.77 with Quaiffe ATB limited slip diff.

Steering/Suspension
• Spax coilvers with polybushes
• Mk2 Escort sterering column
• OBP floor mounted pedal box: clutch (cable) and twin m/cyl bias adjustable brakes with dash mounted adjuster
• Wilwood Powerlite 4 piston with 265mm sold discs and Mintex M1144 Pads @ front with braided hoses
• 7” drums at the rear

Electrical
• Car completely rewired during rebuild
• New Denso lightweight alternator
• New battery
• Smiths speedometer and rev counter (matching) and Racetech electronic fuel, oil pressure and water temp (all with correct senders), speedo cable with (very expensive) right angle drive and cable made up with correct end fittings.
• Bright6 LED warning light array and savage hazard switch
• Small “Dominator” headlights
• 12v socket
• High level rear brake light.

Other…
• Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2s 15x6.5 with Durun Sport 1s and spare Yoko A539s (not fitted)
• New ali transmission tunnel side panels, and leatherette covered ali tunnel top and dash.
• GRP seats with 4 point harnesses
• Racetech centre rear view and wing mirrors
• Solid rear boot cover
• Fitted neoprene over roll bar rain cover
• 25 Litre fuel tank
• Fire extinguisher in passenger footwell

Lots of money spent and I really enjoyed rebuilding it, but I haven't had the time to use it and I'm in the process buying a house that doesnt have a garage.

OIRO £4,500 please, which is a fraction of what it's cost me, but it needs to go quickly.

The car is in Kent.

Thanks guys, it is a lovely looking car, unfortunately it isn't really the time of year to be selling. I'd love to hang onto it until spring and sell it then when the market is better, but unfortunately I need the money for the house.

Yes it is a flying fifteen in the background, its my Dad's.
