BMW 318is sump shortening

Hi all,
It is becoming increasingly more obvious that the standard sump on my 318is 16v 1995 BMW unit will be destroyed if left as is. Installed recently in an MNR Vortex.

What is the best option (i am on a budget) of shortening the sump? Anyone done this before on this engine?
Thanks
Ant

I imagine the simplest, and cheapest way to achieve this is to have someone cut and weld the original sump. where are you based? I may be able to recommend someone.

EDIT: Just seen your in warrington. I know someone in Birmingham who could do it if thats not too far?
