Any Impreza guru's on here? Valuation needed...

If you are a bit of a guru could you please U2U with your email. I am looking at an Impreza but don't know enough about them to know what is a fair price. Tried to compare with others on the market but this one is a bit non standard.

Thanks very much guys

My brother just sold his one,

98 model STi with Simtec ECU, mint bodywork and interior, alloys and exhaust system. Think he sold it for £3k and it was the cleanest classic Scoob ive ever seen.

Can pick them up for buttons.

sad to say, but you will get a lot more for it if you break it.
It's happened to plenty down this way

Yeah I wouldn't break it, if I took it I would be looking to sell it on as it is. Just wondered if it was worth it!

How come theres no STI badging on it ? The engine looks like an STI but strange that theres no badging ?
Oh yeh and sti's are worth a hell of a lot more than modded wrx's, which that car apears to be.

My brother is pricing it up just now, but he says its not a WR1, and its a blobeye, not a bugeye, ill let you know what he says about it...

My bro says that the WR1's only came out in 2004, and apparently its not even an STi, only a WRX so the price really drops. He reckons it might only be worth 6k since its a tuned WRX, would be about 8k if it was an STi.

Hope that helps you.

Lovely that but as Mark said it's the later blob eye and not the bug eye.

My bros conversation on Facebook

"its a wrx engine by the looks of things with a powdercoated inlet manifold.
And looks like a standard wrx intercooler.
390bhp will be pushing the 550cc injectors to about 90% and the turbo to about max at 1.5 bar
But don't understand the need for baffled sump
Its not its a hyperflow intercooler"

Agreed, its not an STI WR1, wrong year and colour.
The spec reads like its had an engine replacement - Closed deck blocks are STI and very early classics
Yep, that looks very much like a standard WRX intercooler to me too. Which must be nearing its limit with just shy of 400 bhp, never mind the injectors and stuff.
Personally I would be asking a LOT more questions and looking though the reciepts. Its a tidy looking car, but its not what the details say it is.

Agree with the above, it's not a WR1 and from the pictures it's not an Sti either, 390bhp with a top mount intercooler is about at it's limit at best.
As for the mapping, a few years ago when i had an Sti, that mapper had a lot of bad press too, after a few mapped cars had problems. Plus on a RR day my standard sti mapped by Bob Rawle (now he's a mapping genius) put out the most on the day, despite the said mapper claiming that his cars would all have over 300bhp, turned out to be a lot of disgruntled owners when they didn't see much ove 260bhp and many were claiming 350bhp

When he's advertising the car as something it's not you have to wonder what he's claiming it has that it doesn't! There seems to be a lot of unnecessary mods on there in places you wouldn't spend the money if you knew about the car...
