All I can tell you is that there are three sat outside my local garage waiting for the scrap lorry!! All three are TDCI (not sure of engine size) and each of the cars have pi$$ed off the owners to such an extent, that they are scrapping them!!
The guys at the garage have spent hours, some unpaid, trying to fault find although the car don't all share the same symptoms. They've had everything from new turbos, new injectors, new looms, new ECU etc, and they still have intermittant fault. They've even tried swapping parts between the three cars to try to eliminate faulty components. The mean dealers have also had a look and after charging main dealer prices, have said they can't find anything wrong! I've asked my chum who knows the garage guys to see how much the scrappy is offering to see if I can buy them!! Like I don't have enough on my plate!

There is a brand new turbo chra 1.6 tdci focos/fusion etc 49173-0750 90bhp on eBay (end time 25-Mar-11 22:55:48 GMT) on eBay for £300. Not a bad price seeing as you will effectively have a new turbo once fitted.

When you do get a new one (last I heard they were about £600 +vat) make sure you use the correct oil and change regularly. I've known these fail after less than 8 miles! They have a very fine filter on the oil feed which is designed to stop debris entering the turbo bearings. It clogs and starves the turbo of oil. Same for the wrong viscousity of oil. Too thick and it doesn't flow through.

Yes, the CRHA is the main core with compressor and turbine. It's a pretty simple job to swap over the compressor and turbine housings and wastegate from the old turbo.
