Electric reverse
Just trial run my home made electric reverse. Use 1.9tdi golf starter, 2 reasons. 1 it's only 2 bolt flange instead of 3 like the petrol
version and another I assume it would have more torque than petrol version. It only tacked in position soon to be fully welded.
Any way here is the results

Looks good, out of interest, where did you get the gear from and how much?
Cheers

HPC gears think it was about £60
Looks for posts by 40inches... Was where I stole the info from. The gear is 12dp 6" OD. I machined it at work with a spigot one side and
recess on the other to accept the proshaft and to fit the diff input flange.

I was planning on using the same setup, with a relay on the neutral light. So if engine in neutral, then that button works.
Does anyone see any issues with that. Need to go hunt down that gear and starter now.

I have just about finished the wiring, I fitted a relay on the neutral light, I also fitted a push on/push off switch to actually switch the reverse
circuit on, then through a joystick to activate the starter motor, I also fitted a N/C relay between the joy stick and starter motor, activated by the
brake light switch. This means I can modulate the reverse speed with the brake pedal. Hopefully

Hi
I have done very similar to you 40 inches with regards to the electric system. I have a relay that activates when in neutral, lever activated switch,
also connected to foot brake and hand brake to prevent operation with the brakes on or it will cause damage to the frame ect. In addition cause I defo
don't want to damage the bike gearbox, I have got a switch on the clutch pedal. The reverse will only work when the pedal is pressed. Over the
top but it's security plus if any one is in the passenger seat then they can not activate the reverse without me being involved. Hope this lot
gets through the iva regs

iv been stripping down my westy yesterday - hmmm - it seems theres just tooooo much to modify to make it practical
the usualy place is below the prop rear as pics above suggest - on the westy there just isnt the space to do the mod
with handbrakes, fuel lines, main harness' in the way - talking bit mods - so im going to repair the reverse box for now and see if it will fix
- bummer - but plus side - the money i saved up will pay for a new silencer can!

I put my starter over the top of the prop. I didn't want it stickin through the floor. Had to mod the frame and move the handbrake but I recon
it was worth it
