Are you going to collect the millions of quids that those emails promised?

If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

I have been twice and stayed at the Turtle Beach Hotel which is very nice, the locals have a really happy outlook considering there average wage and how poor most of them are.
Turtle Beach used to have their own tented camp in Tsavo national park which was free if you stayed for 14 nights. The tents had flushing toilets and hot showers, so its hardly slumming.
We are thinking of going back in 2013 for the wife's 40Th and doing a hot air balloon ride over the Masai Mara.

Tents with showers? Got pics?

(not of the showers, especially not with anyone in them! Just never seen a tent that well equipped or big enough)

Did tsavo east and west and amboseli in 2009 september IIRC for safari. Then 4 nights at leopard beach hotel mombassa. It was an amazing experience in all respects good and bad. As already said the accomodation ( tents and hotels ) was 4 star+ at least. Nothing you want or need is to much trouble and you will be treated like royalty. For us it was all about the safari. The hotel was not our cup of tea as we like freedom to roam. A walk along the beach attracts all sorts of folk trying to sell you stuff and its hard if not impossible to get rid of them. A bit unerving but as said their wages/conditions are what make them do this. We never felt unsafe but rather uncomfortable that we had so much and they so little. Be prepared to see unbelievable poverty and living conditions you cannot avoid these sights between the airport and the hotels. Would I go back? yes and very soon too. Safari only though no hotel this time.

If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.
