paypal gift - getting money back on credit card?
let's say you purchased an item listed on a web forum and paid for it with paypal using the gift option.
the paypal account is linked to a credit card.
now supose the item purchased is not up to spec, and you want a refund
it may happen the seller gets arsey and refuses a redund, can the money be claimed back by contacting the credit card company (goods not as descriebed
or not fit for purpose) ?
anyone been through this type of situation?

Not entirely sure but was always led to believe making the payment as a Gift waived any entitlement to refund as it infers you are not paying
for Goods
Credit card Co may look at it differently though so got to be worth a try

Correct, you are sending a gift, birthday, chrismas etc. not paying for goods or services, which is why for small amounts there is no paypal fee.
Credit Card co. will see it exactly the same, you gave your credit card details freely, and then gave someone some money.
Paypal will get wind, and sting someone for their fee too if you create waves.

Yes the problem is the credit card company say your contract with them was for services from Paypal. You got that therefore you have to pay up. The
fact that paypal will refuse to give you a refund is because you marked it as a gift. The reason why people ask for it as a gift is because the
charges are lower. And the reason why the charges are lower is because Paypal know they don't have to arse around doing refunds if there's
a problem!

A gift can be reversed as it happened to me about a week ago for £125, it was all sorted in the end but like most people I didn't realise a gift
could be reversed

I don't think that's true for all cards, I claimed money back via credit card when paypal did not reimburse me.
If it was cash you would get charged a cash advance fee.
