HD on an xbox

Hi,

Just reading one of the other posts and it's got me thinking. I have a xbox 360 it's connected to my HD projector using the supplied cable like below - (correct one now shown)

i.e I use the yellow connector for the picture -

I was under the impression this is in full HD as the screen size is 4 meters and yet the resolution is very high. Is this the wrong connector cable, should I be using an HD one like the blueray player has?

i would have thought to get HD you need to use a HDMI cable.

I dont think those are HD and are just a standard AV cable.

My bros is certainly plugged into his TV with a HDMI cable

My son had his connected with component cables for HD on his projector, as his xbox is an old one without an HDMI port.

You will get hd from vga, component or hdmi

If it is a composite connection it won't be hd

The red and white av cable is the sound i think, as normally video av is yellow
so maybe that monitor type connection is HD?

yeah the other cable looks to be vga, which doesn't carry sound. so you can get hd on that

connection type is irrelevant as long as the resolution is above 720p then its considered high definition. 1080p is full hd definition(made up standard) but its easy to go higher or anywhere in-between if you like. its just a way of explaining what high screen resolution is to idiots

talking of idiots, yeah silly me it's the yellow connector that's plugged into the projector, the red & white ones are into the stereo

so by the sound of it the xbox is still HD even without the HDMI connector, cheers

Nicely edited

I think to get full HD you'd need to use all them component cables as in the picture, the 4 bunched together are all video and the two together are sound

no, the yellow one won't be, for HD you need the RGB component connections plugged in on earlier xboxes, or HDMI if yours is a later xbox

ah I wasn't sure why there were so many connectors, I shall try the 3 colour ones and see if the picture is any different

yeah i did edit the cable picture as I went and picked the wrong one and only realised in the posts above, it has been a while since I fiddled with them

cabling down the back of the cabinet is a bit of a nightmare, there are so many!
