zetec cooling setup

Afternoon all,

A quick one about the zetec cooling system...

I've got a 2.0l silvertop zetec, I wont be using the heater in the car. So I've done some searching and found the schematic diagram below;

Now a couple of questions,

1. Most of the expansion tanks out there haven't got anywhere near 19mm outlets, so would it be ok to use the more readily available 10mm outlet?

2. The small outlet from the thermostat, it looks like it goes to air, as a vent, or does this go off somewhere else?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

little outlet on stat is a bleed. It goes to the top of the header tank. If your rad has a bleed then it also goes into the top of the header tank.

Rover 25 has a nice cheap header thats ideal. 19mm aswell.

On the bottom hose you need two spurs one for the header and one for the warm up bypass. THEY MUST BE SEPERATE from each other.

This is how my blacktop is plumbed

I'm using a polo rad, you may want to check that the pump outlet is the same size, something in my head is saying the silvertop pump has a different sized outlet.

The ali tube was a b&q aerial pole btw.

Loads of pictures in my gallery by using the banner below.

Mine is also plumbed like that apart from the header tank being connected into a tee just below the thermostat housing . I've never had any cooling problems and don't really know why people feel the need to add the pipe with 2 outlets at the front of the engine for the bypass and bottom hose connections.
