cheap engine oil, any offers on ?

I need 7 litres of 10-40 semi-synth diesel oil.
As usual, when I don't need any there seemed to be a few offers around.
Now I need some, it's all full price. I've searched ukhotdeals, but there's nothing current on there.
Has anyone seen any decent oil cheap anywhere ?

TIA

Morrisons are usually the cheapest for oil, these days they sell Carlube and have fully synth at a very good price.

Just popped out and tried asda and Tesco, they both sold the same spec oil for the same price in the same containers, only the labels differed.
I bought a 4l and a 2l of fully synthetic 5w-40* for £30 (£20 and £10).
Much cheaper than the 2x 5l of Millers I was going to buy

* I know I said 10-40 but 5-40 is specified for cold weather and I change it every 6 months.

I've not done an oil change on this car yet, capacity is meant to be 6.5l.
I already have a litre or so of fully synth left in the bottom of a 5l container

My Land Rover recently spent 12 miles spraying ASDA 15w/40 all over the A1/engine bay etc - Was only a week old and cost £20.

Now replaced with yet more ASDA oil - Supermarket oil unfortunately is the cheapest.

Most modern engines are so oil tight that the sumps rust through, I've changed a few on the smaller Rover K series, my daughters Nissan Note had a leaking sump due to rust before its first MOT. Nissan build quality is in ruins since Reanualt took control.

I just changed the oil in the Indy. I bought Castrol Magnetec 5w/30 from Halfrauds and I decided to buy 2x4 Litres so I have some in the garage for "topping up" if need be. I neally fell over when I got to the till £60 for 8 litres of oil

add that to new plugs and a small vent filter and I spent £99.96 'kin el I didn't know Halfaurds was a "Main Dealer"

Will be shopping around in future as I change the oil in the Indy every 4,000 miles which is three times a year.

Holy moly - some very expensive, low certification oils there.

Costco - Chevron fully synthetic 5w-30 - can't remember to full spec BUT it's decent certified ~£40 for 20 litres.

I've switched from Millers that I used to swear by to this in just about everything I run.

I use 5w/30 synthetic across the board now when I can find at a good price Texaco Havoline 5w/30 to BMW longlife G or Longlife S spec.

If you've got a Partco nearby, try them. Their trade price on oil is very good.

Cheers,
Nev.

Aye you think it would be awful for flushing seeing as the magnetic bits means the oil sticks around

There are no "magnetic" bits in Castrol Magnetec, it's just a mineral oil with the additon of relatively "clingy" synthetic ester.

Pretty much all modern synthetic oils are quite clingy anyway.

the new version of the magnatec 5w30 is claiming to be full synthetic (since they changed it to meet the new ford WSS-M2C913-C spec )

I used the old mineral stuff for years in normal cars without any problems at all (magnatec and ye olde gtx stuff) mind you that was changing it every 5000 miles and only in simple NA engines
