Does Dishforth still have a gaggle of Apache helicopters? Could be playing "winged squaddy in an obscenely priced copter" in the style of Top Gear?

must be some sort of excercise. usually get sea kings flying about the river for days on end, winching on and off frigates, that sort of thing. I would imagine its some training thing

if they are flying a constant pattern then my first guess would have been a radar calibration session but wouldnt have expected that to go on for so long

You ought to live here we had them flying around night and day for over 30 years. Thank goodness for the peace.

Go outside with a balaclava and point a bit of drainpipe at them, see how quick they disappear (and you have 1/2 million armed police on your door).

Least they'll listen to your complaint, before they lock you up

Morse code will not work as the military do not teach it any more.
