R1 Turbo Bec Battery

I have a 2001 R1 turbo engine in my kit with a standard R1 battery and it is struggling to start so I think its time to change the battery. As it has always struggled to start especially since the addition of the turbo and other stuff i think its time to uprate the battery a little, what are the do's and don'ts of uprating the battery?? I have read a few posts that have said dont put a car battery on it.

The standard battery spec is:

Voltagte : 12 V
Capacity : 10 Ah
Cold start peformance: 180 EN

I was thinking of uptrating it to this battery but im not too sure whether it will actually make much of a difference:

Voltagte : 12 V
Capacity : 14 Ah
Cold start peformance: 220 EN

as can be seen here: battery shop

Ive just bought one of these for my Aries blade, also had one fitted to one of my old Indys, with no problems, they also sell some nice alloy battery trays to go with them

If you have a turbocharged engine then it is lower compression & thus should be easier to turn over than a standard engine. If your existing battery is failing to turn it then you have an issue.

Either the battery is Kaput & simply needs changing or something is wrong with the starter system or frictional turning of the engine.
