Distance between paddles and wheel?
Can folks please give me the benefit of their experience concerning the optimal/comfortable distance between the steering wheel and the gear change
paddles please?
Cheeeeeeeeeeers!

You want it as close as you can while still allowing the travel you need to select your gears
Bear in mind that (depending on which bike engine you use) you might want to change your mechanical advantage - I started off with mine requiring only
a small throw at the paddle end but soon found it was pretty undriveable with a rather clunky Kawasaki box so I need quite a big throw at the paddle
end. Honda gearboxes are much slicker so you could get away with less throw at the paddle if you're using one of those.

Thanks Bob.
Its a 4C8 R1, using a rod arrangement with plenty of scope for adjusting the mechanical advantage thanks to laser-cut rockers.

Not sure of actual measurements but these show mine...

It's no good having long fingers Richard Thomas when they just make your John Thomas look small.

Sorry missed the question last week.
Yes, it's vinyl wrapped ally sheet. The collar is ally machined to the same internal dimentions as the original lock housin. It's an
interference fit on the column tube and held by 2 grub screws (one just visable in one of the photo's) and takes the original top bearing.
