Condensation in AST Speedo and Rev Counter

Hi,

I have AST speedo and rev counter.

Like this one

I have problem with condensation in both of them.

When cold they are clear, however once warm they both steam up.

I've tried silica gel, behind the dash to try draw the moisture out but it hasn't helped.

The glass seems to held in by heat shrunk bezel, so I can't remove it.

Any ideas how I dry them out?

Thanks

Andy

Apparantly the trick is to carefully drill some vent holes in the body of the dials. I've always been too scared to do this but that's what I was told when I had exactly the same problem

I have the same in temperature and fuel guages. Mine are SW ones and when I checked with a mate that has run his own kit cars for a few years he said that most seem to do it.

I will leave mine as they are as Although does not look nice it does not affect them.

I've drilled a 2mm hole at the top and bottom of each guatemala between the glass and dial. Hopefully that will allow the moisture to escape.
