Master Cylinder Dia's and Setup Q's for book Locost (750mc)
Hi Guys,
The brake fluid in my locost seems to have broken down over the winter and almost crystalised. Im looking to replace both master cylinders and
probably the brake lines while Im there.
Does anyone know what size master cylinders they will be (save me taking them off one day and rebuilding a week later)? The car was built to 750mc
specs with mk2 escort running gear, front disks (standard) and drums on english axle on the rear).
Is there any advantage/disadvantage of having an integral reservoir ?
Is there a professional method of re-adjusting the brake bias bar after rebuild?
I believe I require girling type master cyclinders...anyone know any cheap suppliers?

the bore dia should be cast into the body, at least they were on mine

The size may be marked on the master cylinder body. It should be possible to remove the master cyclinders without disturbing the position of the bias
bar, but it not then you could simply measure the distance from the outside of a M/C clevis to the end of the bias bar and put it back together using
the same dimensions.
Rally Design are usually very competitive
for brake parts.

If the pedal is still firm, just drain each circuit in turn and flush through with fresh DOT 5.1 fluid. Then check the wheel cylinders
and callipers are not seized.
I would also get some new lids for the reservoirs the plastic type are better.
