tileing garage floor?????
im thinking of tileing my garage floor,just seeing if anyone else has done it,or have they got pictures and what tiles did you use,im thinking of
using porcilin floor tiles,but will they with stand my car on them,thanks,replys wecome.

these guys seem to think that it is worth doing,...

To the degree whereby (allegedly) the workshop was sized to make sure they didn't have to cut floor tiles at the end...

Good point, but i think a square of maybe 10mm ply would spread the load enough to save the tiles. A tiled floor would help keep it nice and tidy!
Assuming your concrete slab is level enough, id screed and use the really big white granite effect tiles.
Beware! Bourettes is binfectious.

I thought about it, but they get very slippery when wet.

despite the tongue in cheek post, I think that it would be a good idea for garage, however I just bought some B&Q garage floor paint and slapped
it down, looks tidy and easy to clean.
I did once look at a Fury that was for sale somewhere in the NE of England and the chap had a tiled garage,.. very tidy. Large cream tiles,... long
time ago though.
I think it would be important to have sealed tiles, perhaps textured ones like those used around swimming pools might work and not be too slippery
when wet?

Did mine about 6 years ago with the cheep ones B&Q have on offer every now and then, If i remember right it didn't cost me much more than
£100 to do so quite reasonable considering the price of floor paint.
Its stood up really well to the abuse its had, no problems with damage from trolley jacks or axle stands i have one tile that could do with replacing
but that was due to me dropping something very heavy on it (you can just see the damage below my cafe racer) sill looks good now when its clean.

That depends how heavy the car is and how well the tiles are laid! For any seven as long as the tiles are fully supported by adhesive they will be
fine.

No they have got a bit of texture to them but can be slippery when wet, i have a mat by the door to wipe my feet on if its raining outside

Yeah it will, depends what you use and how it's laid.
The dealers that I worked at both had tiled floors and both were fine. Jacked up Land Rovers all day on it no probs, being as it was a LR main dealer
we had a few heavy vehicles through there.
If you tile the floor properly with the right adhesive and using say a 10mm half round notch trowel so the adhesive will have 100% coverage when the
tiles are bedded then you'd struggle to break one really.
You'll get lots of problems if you have any voids under the tiles though

tiles would be fine if you were just parking vehicles in the garage, but if your going to work on them then its got to be floor paint IMHO
(I'm just about to start painting my new floor in a nice light grey )

The place I work at had ceramic floor tiles throughout the building and they were only replaced because as we upgraded the place, it wasn't
possible to find matching coloured tiles, or ones the right size.
The original tiles were laid in 1959 and of the 1,000m2 of tiles, only a handfull were cracked. These tiles had heavy steel castored machined dragged
over them every day. Some breaker trolleys weigh up to 300kg. Other components moved about on them were over 25tonnes so are tiles OK to use with
trolley jacks? I would say so. And just to add, I've jacked up my Range Rover on the tiles without busting any.
