But its a 1.8, which IIRC will be an earlier silvertop from Escorts, Fiestas and early mondeos.

It doesnt really matter what car its from, as I doubt theres anything you cant figure out from a haynes as most model specfic parts will be removed. What intake setup is it using?

Black or silver, it doesnt make a lot of odds either way. There are differances but a haynes manual for mondeo will cover what you will want to know.
Being a new engine it will have a code on the cambelt cover, google will tell you if it was made for a mondeo/focus/couger or whatever.
Stick up where you are in your user location and some one local will show you theres or give Ed a buz. The zetec is a very simple engine.

there is an easy way to tell which version it is - look at the cam cover
if its silver then its a 'silver top' (i.e. from an escort / early mondeo)
if the cam cover is black plastic then its a 'black top' (i.e. from a mk1 focus [98-05] / or similar aged mondeo)

like big_wasa says the engine code will tell you exactly which car it was intended to be use in

I've got the 1.8 blacktop in my tin-top (focus) its a nice revvy engine thats very addictive (probably explains why my MPG is so low  )

In the same position as you, but I'm just in the process of picking up a velocity with a zetec (silver top) 1800, this one with twin 40's. Found this website - www.Zetec-cat.co.uk very informative.

Hi welcome to the nuthouse! I am sure you will find answers to your questions.

First, could you add your location to your profile, as it helps a lot know whereabouts you / we are when offering help etc. ie, you are so close its easier to pop round and look etc.

As said above, the engine shouldnt be a problem.

Is your kit a Luego?
Is it a Locost, a Velovity, or a Velocity XT? There a few subtle differences!
Knowing exactly which model will help you a lot.

We LOVE pictures.... So plenty of Pics please. You can store them in your archive. Also the old adage "A picture paints a thousand words" is very very true especially on here. A picture of your engine would almost have had it identifed straight away. However, engine numbers are fairly definative.

You will get more help than you can shake a stick at on LCB. Its a good and friendly forum.

Cheers and good luck with the build... also remember those Pics!
