whats the best wireless audio/video sender?

OK, so I've got a £30 wireless AV transmitter and, quite predictably, it's p*nts. I live in an old place with thick walls so am after something with a bit more oomph.

I know there are a few really expensive models out there (£150+) that do all sorts of funky HD stuff. But really all I want is an interferance free picture and sound and don't want to spend that much money only to have the same problem.

Backup solution is to drill a hole in the wall but that's not quite so neat!

Cheers

Andy

Juice box pipes HD down your ring mains but it is very expensive!

A sling box might be another cheaper alternative, that'll take a composite input (or better if you get a better model) and then pipe it across your network.

You could always then put that into a homeplug Into other rooms? Would need some sort of browser/client/pc though to view?

I've tried quite a few wireless senders over the years and they've all been pretty poor.

You'll get much better results with cables though, would it be that much effort to run a couple of CAT 6 cables? CAT5 would be good enough but you could future proof it a little with CAT6?

If you did run a few cat6 cables you have a lot of cheaper options open to you.

This device also allows pass back for the remote?

Simple HD over CAT cable....

Keep us updated with what you do, I still want to tackle this myself when I get some time/money!

I was in the same boat as you. I'm guessing your current setup is a 2.8 ghz. Upgrade to a 5.8 ghz, you will find a huge difference. The cheap 2 ghz ones operate on the same frequency as your wireless router microwave etc - hence they are shite.
I bought mine off amazon it was 90 odd quid but worth every penny. I'll get you the make and model tomorrow as the box is in work.

This is the one I have, can't fault it at all. And my house has really thick walls as well.
