Am I being a numpty, or is that quite a large trailer to be unbraked? I am looking for a trailer, but I was under the impression it would need to be braked...

Anything over 750 kgs should be braked. Depends on how heavy the trailer is and how heavy the car is. May just scrape under 750 with a seven on it.

depends what you are towing it with?
i always towed it with a vw camper or landrover discovery.

just needs mini back plates and a bit of cable to put brakes on it.

Looks like you've been towing it with a ride on mower to me.
