Experience days

Evening all! Question.. The mrs has kindly offered to shell out for a driving experience day.. She's currently browsing the virgin website, but I don't fancy her shelling out 200+ notes so tht I can have 15 minutes track time in one of the usual suspect supercars under extreme restrictions

Does anyone have a recommendation as to how I can get maximum fun (i.e. tracktime in something reasonably lively) for similar ballpark costs? Obviously, as the build is coming along sloooow, would need vehicles as part of package.

Anything good (better than the middle of the road nonsense that joe public gets fleeced for) out there that you are aware of?

Thanks all..

I take it you want track not rally?

A friend of mine did silverstone rally day which was a lot of fun.

Whats your budget?

Track days ARE the best thing since sliced bread, until I get a supercharger that is!

Sometimes faster than your ability allows, meaning you bin a single seater

Sign up to Groupon (a discount / offers website if you have never heard of it). Occasionally they have special offers for driving experience things. I did one for about £150 (I think) where I got to drive 3 supercars for 2 or 3 laps each, out of a choice of 12 or so cars. I chose to drive a Ferrari 360 Modena Challenge, TVR T350, and a Porsche GT3 Oakley. You also got 2 laps as a passenger in an Aerial Atom driven by an ex F1 driver from the 70's / 80's (cant remember his name). It was all done at an airfield track near York. Very good value compared to some of these experience days you can get.

Thanks all! Appreciate the collective wisdom as always..

Palmer sport looks THE business, little bit procey for a birthday pressie, but its just gone onto my 'must do' list - sadly, I think I'll be funding that one myself

Budget is probably up to the £250 mark, so the caterham slalom day looks a whole heap of fun, and may even teach me some valuable pre build completion lessons in how a 7 behaves..

And yes, track preferred to rally, but I'm always open to ideas!

Thanks again, appreciate the rapid feedback!

What about doing your ARDS test?

You get to drive and get a national b license - you're then officially a racing driver and can prove it
