iPhone 4 s problem

Morning, any iPhone experts about, wife has lost wi-fi connection, button to select wi-fi is "dimmed out" ie unable to select this option. Looked on the net but so far all the advice is on a pay basis after a while, they suggest taking it into an apple store, but our nearest is a good hour away. Have tried on/off and resets, other than a full restore to factory settings, which loses all contacts, calendars etc, don't know what to do ........ Any help greatly appreciated. Thx Mr & Mrs Wombat

when you plug into itunes to do the factory restore it'll prompt you to do a back up, that'll save all your contacts etc so when you plug back in it'll restore them.

built a car, built a home, had a family. lost the family, lost the home, still got the car.

Thx understand that, her concern is that if after the backup stage the wi-fi is still not enabled, she will not be able to use phone. Found some info on net saying that 4s has an issue with wi-fi routers on Wep????

Hi,

Mine had a similar fault, if you go to "Settings" then "General" scroll to bottom of that page select "reset", then "reset network settings" that only deletes wifi settings etc, doesnt effect contacts or anything.
