Oil Leak from Camshaft Sensor (2.0 Zetec Silvertop)

As title says....

Questions....

a) Has anyone blanked theirs off completely?

b) Can I put any 'o' ring in place of the leaky one the rather than buy a new sensor at £30 that I dont even use!

Edited to add -

Just been down to my local auto factors and they gave me a 'round' 'o' ring to try. Apparently the Ford one is a 'flat' 'o' ring. The one the shop gave me was too round so the sensor didnt fit. can I buy 'flat' o rings anywhere?

Thanks, the 'o' ring I tried was too round. The guy in the shop said mine was a flat 'o' ring.

The original leaky 'o' ring did seem very stiff as opposed to the new (too big) one which was nice a rubbery!
