there's quite a big choice - depends what you want from the car. A mild improvement can be gained from upgrading a non-GT to GT spec.
Never under estimate the ingenuity of an idiot!

BCF 2 or absolute max BCF 3. It is the old spec but that is the limit before cutting pistons...

I used to have a Piper 285 in my 1300. I didn't modify the pistons. I timed it up with a vernier pulley.
It had a big valve head, single 45 Weber, megajolt ignition and 4-2-1 manifold.
It produced 93bhp on two different rolling roads.

Unless you are restricted by racing rules, why bother, just upgrade to a zetec, it will be cheaper, nicer to drive and more economical.

Surprised at that. Never used one personally but several mates did in the days when the x-flow was king and all needed piston mods just like I and
others needed with the Kent 234 and 244 alternatives.

Yep, checked the clearances during assembly. I think piper recommend that.
Used it happily for a couple of years, including sprinting. Only took it out to swap for a 1600.
