Duratec clutch flywheel combo definitive list
Morning,
Been researching various threads and links on the best/locost setup for connecting my Type9 up to my 2.0 ST150 Duratec. Have ready Flakmonkeys
excellent thread amongst others but am still a little confused.......
Has anyone got any part numbers, vehicle models, vehicle years etc that can shed some light on the most suitable setup.
I've got lists of bits and bobs but nothing specific to go searching with............mention's of pinto this, RS turbo that, zetec
t'other, are all well and good, but part numbers are better. There's also mention of AP "race" plates, and AP
"race" covers, which in my mind means adding £50 to a clutch thats being used up and down the M1 by your average repmobile.
All part of the fun, is trying to circumnavigate the so called "race" equipment being marketed from various suppliers who have happened to
stumble upon the right combo
As a starter, I've got a bog standard ST150 solid flywheel, and a V6 flat faced Mondeo slave cylinder............any takers??? Not looking to
build a fire breathing 350BHP monster, just looking transmit at whatever a 2.0 will put out with GSXR bodies 150-180BHP i suppose???

Hi, the clutch for me was the most puzzling to sort out but got there in the end and it seems to work OK so here goes
The friction plate is a heavy duty pinto plate made by AP and bought from Burton Power
linky
Thrust bearing from Titan Motorsport the Saab type with round nose
Master cylinder also from Titan. You will also need a spacer behind the cylinder mine was 12 mm.

For the pressure plate I have used a heavy duty RS Turbo plate it needs to be a 220mm dia to match Pinto plate.
The fingers need shortening as you will see on Flaks write up this prevents them binding on the guide tube which the bearing travels along.
Duratec Engine is fitted, MS2 Extra V3 is assembled and tested, engine running, car now built. IVA passed 26/02/2016

I'm using LUK kit, part nr 622 2050 09 (friction plate 322 0259 10 and cover 122 0203 10)
CLUTCH KIT FORD 622 2050 09 BY LUK 
can't get that frigging link to work

hi i used rwd motorsport steel flywheel and pinto clutch cable operated cheapest way works spot on would recommend against ap race clutch on the road
as will be a pig to drive i would not want to drive our race car in traffic bloody nightmare ap twin plate clutch more like an on off switch

also excuse my lack of Pinto knowledge, i'm under 50years old !!!, thats the 2.0 8v motor fitted to Sierra? What years ?
Radom, what are you finding problems with on your setup??
i've got my eye on a few bits and bobs on ebay, so might take a punt as they are reasonably priced. I'm assuming most Ford pressure plates
will bolt straight up to a standard flywheel, just need to get the finger shape right to fit the flat Mondeo slave cylinder??
That heavy duty pinto plate on the burton website, AP item i'm assuming?? Must be OEM with some manufacturer, surely?
I'm thinking of going down the lines of trying some sort of Mondeo setup, which will be more than enough to get a 600kg car moving without too
much hassle, as Mr Ford designed it to move twice that, and sometimes with a caravan attached!!!

wondering why if you want to do it cheap and simple you are converting type 9 to hydraulic clutch.
Pinto mostly in cortinas granadas 70s 80s best one rs 2000 escort maby the odd trawler as well

have re-designed the pedal box on my Striker and was never a big fan of the cable set-up. thanks for the info. Have taken a gamble and managed to pick
a Mondeo clutch and pressure plate up off the the bay, much cheapness, will see if it fits......fingers crossed

Has anyone run with the standard st150 clutch cover plate?
Doesn't need the fingers trimming like he zetec ones do.

i was going to use mine, but I'd aready bought a flat thrust bearing slave cylinder.....
by the looks of it, should be fine with a rounded slave??

Just for future ref, for fellow builders..........clutch fits like a glove, and had the gearbox into it as well. haven't got it working yet as
the car is in a million bits but see no reason why it shouldn't work OK. If it doe'snt transmit the power, then £19.99 for a clutch aint
too much of a hit
So, in answer to my question....

Mondeo V6 clutch slave
Early mondeo clutch - Motoquip VCK726
ST150 Flywheel
No spacers, no cutting, no drilling, no finger trimming, just bolt on................happy days

Just spotted this thread.... Very interesting as my long term aim is to go Duratec. Will this setup work with a cable clutch?

Clanger, your setup is EXACTLY like mine. I have a 2.0 duratec in my mgb, I used the mondeo clutch plate and fiesta st flywheel and cover. Works like
a charm, driven a few thousand miles on it with no problems at all.

Not quite moving yet! This was the front end on Tuesday.

Hopefully get the front suspension on soon and then when I get my diff back from BGH I can get the rear in place
