Headlight dimensions

Hi

Just reading the regs on the position of headlights ect. The regs say 400mm from the side of the vehicle. 2 questions:

1) is it measured from the widest part of the vehicle, i.e. back arches

2) where abouts on the head light is the datum for the measurment? I.e. is this to the centerline of the headlight or the absolute max distance for any part of the light unit?

Cheers
Rog

1. Yes it's from the widest part (rear wings in most cases)
2. No, it's to the outer most part of the lens for width, lowest part for min height, etc

Hi

I think i understand but just to clarify incase ive read it wrong, if my head light lense was 150mm diameter, and i set it at the max of 400 mm from the outer edge then the max position of the headlight center line would be 475mm?

That sounds right, but I would go a bit under the 475 just in case the testers checking setup is different from yours. The 400mm is maximum.
