"Complete" engines on eBay??????

Is it normal for bike breakers to sell "complete" engines that are minus carbs or throttle bodies?
As here:ebay A ZX12R at £1300, but no throttle bodies!!!!!

Typical tricksters,

I see those ads all the time with complete in the title, usually with an accompanying picture showing the engine and all the ancillaries attached, then the description will say 'minus.... everything!'

I find it really annoying.

A bird in the hand....

Most bike engines on eBay are engine only, think the term complete to a bike breaker just means its a bare motor. Lots don't even have a starter motor.

If you really want a "complete" engine with all ancillaries - then you cannot do better than go to Mal at Yorkshire Engines.

He will guarantee the engine and give you all the assistance needed to get it running.

In the long term this is likely to be cheaper than getting a stripped engine and sourcing the ancillaries.

Buying a working bike and selling what you don't need seems like the best way to me. That way you get to check the engine out properly before buying.

When I bought my R1 engine It was out of the bike and I couldn't hear it run, I took a gamble and bought it but it was cheap enough to get my money back in parts if it turned out to be buggered. If/when I decide to upgrade the engine I would approach it in the same way. Either buy from a reputable seller such as Malc or buy a full bike so you can check it out properly. Even more so if your looking at 1k+. It's a lot of money to lose.

I'd Second Yorkshire engine's
I bought my ZX12R from him, looked like new.

First engine was from a bought second hand complete RF900RR bike.
Put it in the car only find 2nd gear jumped.

Then bought a complete engine from a bike breaker, did not no if second jump, as I never found second gear at all
£200's for new parts eventually sorted it.

How is it ebay's fault ? A complete engine to a breaker doesn't include all the ancillaries whether it's a bike or car breaker.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
