Ultimate 7
What specs would your ideal 7 have? I'm talking engine, brakes, diff, wheels, chassis, colour etc.
I'm researching my next project you seen and I'm looking for ideas

Turbo 'busa engine, 3.38 LSD, wilwood 4-pots front and twin-pots rear. 13@ mike barnby mag split rims 13x7 front and 8.5 rear.

It looks like this:
Seriously though, probably a wide body with that bike derived V8 in the caterham RST, 6 speed normal manual (actually an rst would do nicely
*kerching*), quaife atb diff, 15in compomotive ml split rims with AP racing 4 pots up front and twin pots at the rear. IRS rear with full camber and
toe adjustability and inboard fully adjustable shocks up front. Alloy uprights all round, balance bar brake system. Colour, maybe something like this

On the subject of tyre sizes, is what phelpsa said really that bad?
I've seen loads of very light cars with large tyres, including track prepped caterhams with tyres easily 8.5 inches wide. Surely up to a point
bigger tyres give you better traction?
Ofcourse I'm aware that it's possible to over or under tyre a car but can someone tell me how you work out the happy medium?

Mmmm I do like that orange colour. I was thinking of getting orange for my next car.
Has anyone had a spray job done on their body panels? A car like a 7 would be dead simple to get sprayed at the start of a build after all - just take
the body panels along, no need to mask anything that way. I wonder how much something like that would cost...

As for the tyres, the race car I do some spanner work on has huge tyres, and that seems to drive OK. Our wets are quite a lot narrower though,
can't remember any exact sizes off the top of my head.
I suppose the road surface plays a large part in the amounf of grip generated as well. A nicely prepared race track will provide much more (as well as
more consistent) grip than the kind of lumpy bumpy pot-hole-ridden gravel-covered public roads most of us are used to driving...

I think it's about how suddenly it'll give way. Yes you'll get a ton of traction, but when she goes, she'll be gone before
you realise she's about to.
Hence the point about the softest compound.
Think that's how it works anyway.
