Handbrake advice wanted

Hi All,

Just searched the forum for an hour and confused myself - I'm planning to fit my handbrake cable.. First of all, can I do this without priming and bleeding the brake system (I read that if I dont I will have to contend with self adjustment later). Also, are these SVA friendly for re-connecting the cable once cut?

Finally, any pics of how the cable is routed / kept away from wishbones etc would be wonderful - including where the cable routs through the two holes in the rear bulkhead)!

Thanks folks

Saturday bump - sorry guys and gals, but don't want to do anythin stupid (common occurrence!).

Handbrake cable has been cut and trial fitted - awaiting rejoin and I don't want to scrap a brand new cable (note join will be at handbrake / half moon end of system)

Thx, mark

I clamped my cable with cleats, means mistakes can be rectified

I would consider fitting some kind of guard underneath the cables. If the cable snapped or came adrift it could get fouled in the propshaft. I'll post a pic of mine but having trouble uploading at the moment.

Uploaded sorted picture was too big.

I made a balance bar for mine. Two lengths of M10 threaded bar drilled through the centre with nipples welded (molten lead would have been better) on the end of the cables. Two bits of flat bar with M10 nuts welded in and two more nuts to lock it off.

I did basically the same as Smoking Frog,
welded some 6mm screws to the end of the allegro cables without cutting the cables, then put these through either side of a piece of metal bar that was actually in front of the handbrake handle, with the original bar coming forward from the handbrake to the middle of the metal strip.
I ran my cables over the top of the escort axle, basically as shown inthe book.
been fine for the last 5 years since SVA
