Engine Crane Wheels?

I'm after some wheels for an engine crane..

Will supermarket trolly wheels be up to the job?

Looking to lift Range Rover RV8 with autobox/transfer box...

Been looking at these but cheap as chips in the good ol' USA but none over here...

the machine mart in coventry sells caster wheels, don't know how much they cost though, maybe your local store might sell them

Coozer - we've got boxes of wheels at work. 125mm dia. with an M12 threaded fixing, rubber tyres for smoother running and braked or unbraked. 100kg load rating per wheel.

Full spec here - http://www.tente.co.uk/EN/cat200/am5079_design_castors.html

Set of 4 can be yours for £10 postage cost.

ETA - better bet than getting caught nicking a Tesco trolley

When I did some repairs on the F27 I adapted a supermarket trolley (some kind person had left an anonymous one in our drive one night) by angry grinding the top structure off and levelling the base by cutting the ends free then adding some sst uprights underneath one end of the bed.
This not only took the whole weight of the car but meant I could move it around the garage dead easily.
So I guess the short answer is YES, only thing to watch out for is the fumes when welding on the uprights IIRC trolleys are zinc or galvanised.
HTH.
Cheers, Pewe10

Coozer vv - as a matter of interest the adapted supermarket trolley took the F27's 650kg no probs. on a smooth'ish concrete floor

For now I have borrowed the wheels of both my engine stands, and thinking about it the engine and trans are sitting on a frame with trolley wheels on them, dead easy to move around.

My thoughts are ultimately down to lifting the heaviest item in the garage when it comes to moving.. and thats the lathe at 650kg..

Yep, send me a text and I'll let you know if I'm in!

And, if I'm not working and the weathers fine I'll pop down to Teeside
