Garage Door Problems
The garage door is an up and over job with one of the centre pull catches, I think the wire has come off of the catch as I cant get the door open.
Anyone got any experience of getting round this problem, any thoughts or suggestions from those who haven't
Thinking out loud is most welcome, tools are a problem as they are all in the garage.

Take a strip of metal (e.g. a steel ruler) and slide it into the gap between the top of the door and the frame, exactly in the centre.
If it's like my garage door, you'll be able to push the bolt down and release the catch. I have now welded a piece of metal across this
bit to stop villains doing this trick!

If it's like mine the actual catch is in the middle at the top of the door. If so can you use a coat hanger or similar to reach in and release
it?
Failing that give it a good shove!

That is very common over here, and unfortunately its all too common to have a house with NO garage or workshop

Fraid so!
An there's a big overhanging lintle at the top that may stop me getting a jemmy in to frig the catch, but well worth a try,

Try using a bit of flexible plastic like the top of a Tupaware food container.
You will need to cut the lip off, but it should bend enough to go round the top of door and still be stiff enough to release the catch.

I found out how easy it is when my son opened the garage to get out of the rain (he'd left his house keys indoors).
Now I have a pair of 5-lever locks on the bottom corners of the door!

we've got a piece of 3x40mm angle, pad locked to eyes at the side of each of the doors. seems to work as they've not got in since. also re
mesh for concrete bolted to rafters under the clear roof window sections. they got in there as well, b***ards!
