Just finished... Guy is a marmite character for me - sometimes I think he's a star, and at other time I think he's a pillock.

Tonight - he's got all of my respect! What he did was scary, dangerous and an amazing feat for someone who was only a recreational cyclist prior to the start of training. What a champion...

Best Christmas tv entertainment, love his look at life even though ther must be other professional cyclist that could have done it if they had same fearless approach

Surely the sand must have caused a fair bit of drag on the bike wheels? I wonder how fast he could have gone had they found a strip of tarmac long enough.
