RCA Cable

Fitting some audio to my daily driver and the RCA cable I am using to an amplifier has a single core wire running up the middle of the 2 RCA leads which I'm not sure what to do with. Is it some kind of ground or do I just ignore it, it's very thin, almost non existent but I don't get why it's there or what it's for.

A lot of cables have a strand of something (not sure what it is) to stop them stretching and damaging the copper.

Just cut it flush when you strip ends

its supposed to be used for the 12v trigger from the headunit to the amp, but its a bad idea mixing power and signal lines so I always run a separate 12v down the opposite sill.

Yep remote signal. Shouldn't affect sound tbh.

Yep. It won't affect signal quality. If it did you would hear all sorts going on.

Thanks for the replies, I'll just leave it alone then, it's so thin it looks good for nothing anyway. The remote is always on the other side of the amplifier in between the live and the earth, never on the same side as the RCA inputs so looks a bit of waste of time.
