what bolt for LT77 Clutch slave cylinder?

Hi,

Can anyone help me out please.

I have a RV8 with a LT77 gearbox. I have replaced the clutch slave cylinder and thought all was well, but the bolts have come undone / fell out and it would seem that even though I used the same ones as were there before, I have mashed the thread a bit in the bell housing.

The bolts that were there look to be unf they have the three marks on the top.

can anyone confirm if I should be using a m8 or an imperial bolt?

thanks, Chris

More than likely imperial, theres a good mix of UNC unf and metric on mine.

According to THIS link, an M8 x 35 mm should do it, but if you say that your bolt has 3 markings on the top then it will be imperial, if it is a fine thread, you're looking at UNF, if it is a coarse thread, it will most likely be UNC.

Do you have a photo of it (next to a ruler or something)?

Lee.

If I remember correctly all the threads on the rv8 block are imperial and all the bolts on the bell are metric. However I mangled my slave cylinder bolt threads and I drilled them out and then completely through the bell housing and I put a nut on the end of a new longer bolt. Seems to have worked

Thanks for the replies. The bolt does indeed have the marks, but I inherited it, thus me wondering if it is wrong.

I like the thought about drilling it through

I've also seen another note somewhere saying a m8 25mm but it wasn't convincing enough..

Cheers, appreciated, Maybe I will try and tap the thread again an if it fails drill it through.

Thanks. That would explain why they fell out! Before I swapped the slave they must have gone in and locked, 8yrs later I took them out and put them back in.....

m8 tap and new bolts seems to have done the trick, couple of hundred miles and it is still holding
